Today's carpets resist spills much better than the carpets of only a few years ago. Still, all carpets are susceptible to spots. Treating most spots is easy. Doing it promptly is the best way to keep spills and spots from turning into permanent stains.
| Step 1: | Blot up as much of the spill as you can. Use a white cotton towel or white paper towels. Start along the outer edge and work toward the center. Keep turning or replacing the towel so a fresh surface is always being applied to the carpet. Remove solids using a piece of cardboard. Do not rub! Rubbing will damage the fibers and leave a permanent irregularity, as well as spread the stain. While you work, keep an eye on the towel. As long as you are getting the color of the spill on the towel you are making progress. Keep blotting until you are not getting any more transfer to your towel. |
| Step 2: | When you have blotted up as much as you can, use FreshX Touch of Magic. A fresh towel or some fresh white paper towels. Place the towel on the spot and then place a weight on top of it. This will work as a poultice and help draw out more of the spot. Over 80% of today's carpets are made of synthetic fibers and will readily give up a spot to an absorbent towel. |
| Step 3: | Most spots are easily removed by just a few drops of FreshX Touch of Magic. It works great on those emergency spot jobs. Always pretest in an inconspicuous area any cleaning solutions you are going to use. Remember too, that using a cleaning agent on a carpet is like using salt on your food. A little is nice, but too much can ruin a good thing. After removing the spot, blot the area again with a damp towel to remove all of the cleaning agent. Imagine what your hair would look like if you didn't rinse the shampoo out! FreshX Touch of Magic is a biodegradable product. |

Special Instructions for removing certain products
Candle Wax Removal
* Candle wax can be removed by covering the wax with several layers of cloth towel and applying a warm iron on top of the towels. Change towels after to absorb the wax. Do not overheat, some synthetic fibers have a low melting point. Any remaining residue can be removed by using FreshX Touch of Magic solution.

1. Remove excess material that can be removed easily with mechanical action by scraping with spoon or spatula and vacuum thoroughly. 2. Place white absorbent material of at least a 1/2' thickness over the remaining wax. 3. Press lightly with the iron to transfer heat through the towel to melt wax slowly. 4. Lift the iron and change the absorbent material regularly. This is to prevent the wax from melting all at one time causing the absorbent material to become too saturated and allowing the wax to melt down into the backing. Slowly melt the wax. 5. Now that the excess wax is removed, apply a small amount of FreshX Touch of Magic to remove any left over residue. Wipe lightly with towel, then vacuum or extract. |
Caution
1. Do not set the iron over the "wool" setting.
2. Do not touch the face yarns with the iron itself. Use absorbent material to transfer heat.
3. Use a scrap of carpet to set the iron on when not in use.
Set-up: Plug in your iron and stand it up on the scrap of carpet near the wax spot. Make sure all tools & equipment are at hand.
Chewing Gum Removal
* Chewing gum can be removed by freezing it with ice cubes in a plastic bag and cracking it off. Any remaining residue can be by using FreshX Touch of Magic.
Water Based Paint Removal
* Use FreshX Touch of Magic solution on water based paint. First scrape up the excess wet paint.
Oil Based Paint Removal
* Use a dry cleaning fluid to clean-up paint spills. Read product label carefully. For large spills, seek the aid of a professional in your area.
